Dr. Neeraj Satyal

Nick Satyal, Ed.D. is a National Board-Certified Math Teacher. Having 20 years of experience in TK-12 Public Education as a teacher, instructional coach, and administrator – he started the Math Yogis to help support schools, administrators and teachers help their kids learn math faster. A native of Anchorage, Alaska, he has lived in Los Angeles for his most of his career. An avid Dodger fan, his wife Sree, and two kids Jackie and Cassie live in South Los Angeles.

Dr. Toutoule Ntoya is an educator dedicated to advancing student achievement through teacher development and direct student support. He partners with educators to implement effective curricula and coaches students using learning and motivation strategies. Dr. Ntoya holds a doctorate in Urban Education Leadership from the University of Southern California and has taught science across K–12 settings. He has also served in school leadership roles, including Dean of Students

Sunny Min is the Head of People and Programs at Math Yogis, overseeing all People, Culture, and Program initiatives. She has built programs and systems that expand educational opportunities for students and foster professional growth for educators. Before launching the Math Yogis Tutoring Program, she led emerging leadership and teacher residency programs for school networks in Los Angeles. Sunny began her career as a middle school math teacher in New York City.

Zena Ezz Eidin is a Strategic Project Manager driven by a passion for youth empowerment. Drawing on diverse experiences in teaching, the arts, and community work, they bring creativity and purpose to every project. A Columbia graduate with a background in visual arts and education, Zena manages program implementation, hiring, and data analysis—strengthening programs that help students build confidence and find joy in learning math.

Maereen Sheikh has been a math educator for more than 13 years. Because of her love for making mathematics instruction light-hearted and simple, after graduating from USC, she dropped out of law school to open a small tutoring business in the South Bay. After helping students attain mathematics achievement, she wanted to continue to help with math instruction in a school setting which led her to work as a Tutor, then Site Lead, and finally a Scheduling and Tutor Relations Lead.

Maureen retired after 30+ years as a high school math teacher, middle school math coach, and mentor. She earned a 6-year Math for America LA grant, co-writing engaging Common Core curriculum for her school. She began writing curriculum for Math Yogis in 2023 and believes tutoring is vital for creating equitable, supportive learning environments. In her free time, she enjoys playing piano and euphonium, reading, gardening, cooking, hiking, biking, and swimming in icy Sierra lakes.

Gina Chang is an educator from New York who began teaching SAT prep in Atlanta during the pandemic, where she discovered her passion for expanding access to high-quality math education. At Math Yogis, she empowers tutors and schools to create inclusive, student-centered spaces that build confidence and curiosity. Gina is driven by a belief that all students deserve to see themselves as capable, curious problem-solvers with limitless potential.

Kayla Kawata is a Marketing Management graduate from Cal Poly Pomona and serves as an Administrative Assistant supporting operations and social media at The Math Yogis. She was drawn to the organization’s mission to expand equity through in-person, high-dosage tutoring. Kayla loves making sure tutors have what they need to show up prepared and confident on campus, and she enjoys capturing the stories behind student growth and tutor dedication across Los Angeles classrooms.

Dr. Wendy Creek has nearly 30 years of experience in education, including time as a K-12 teacher, administrator, and university professor. Her doctoral focus on Educational Leadership for Social Justice speaks to her commitment to improving educational outcomes for all students. She leverages her time as a musician and ensemble director to enhance both her math skills and leadership style.

Lance Harrison is a Program Manager with The Math Yogis. He studied Electrical Engineering at USC, has a JD from the University of Texas, and practiced law for over 5 years. Throughout his varied career he has always stayed engaged in education. Lance has a passion for finding creative ways to help students reach their full potential. Lance is proud that the Yogis embody this same commitment to creativity, innovating and adapting to serve the students and schools of Los Angeles.

Alex Johansen Laughlin is a math curriculum developer and professional development designer with over a decade of experience serving schools and organizations in Madrid, Chicago, and Los Angeles. She is passionate about working with organizations focused on equity and empowering students to be confident, critical thinkers. Alex is a Teach for America alum and holds an M.S. in Education from Johns Hopkins University.

Esther Chen is a dedicated professional with a degree in Business Administration, specializing in Marketing Management. Currently serving as the Lead Operations, she brings strong expertise in team leadership, project management, and optimizing operational processes. Esther is passionate about the education industry, particularly in supporting MathYogis to create a better learning environment for students.

Cristal San Pedro is a college student studying Business with a focus on accounting. She is passionate about educating the younger generation, having volunteered as an English teacher in South Korea for a year in 2024. Cristal is the founder and club president of a business club at her college, called NextGen, where she advocates for instilling meaningful values in young adults to help them live fulfilling lives while achieving their business dreams and goals.
